This estimator uses a hybrid model: word count, intent words (best/cheap/premium), product category fit, and length-of-tail patterns from public keyword data. It is a directional estimate — actual Helium 10/Jungle Scout data will be more precise, but for free triaging at scale, this works.
Use the Score column to prioritize: high volume + medium difficulty + buying intent = best opportunity.
Head terms (1-2 words) = 50K-300K+. Mid-tail (3-4 words) = 5K-50K. Long-tail (5+ words) = under 5K but cheaper PPC.
Easy = under 500 competing listings. Hard = 50K+. Most new sellers should target Medium (long-tail with 2-5K competing listings).
"best", "for", brand names = high intent (people ready to buy). Generic "yoga mat" = mixed intent. "what is yoga mat" = research (skip).
Once you have a shortlist of 20-30 keywords, verify in Helium 10 Cerebro or Jungle Scout Keyword Scout for accuracy.
